Community and Family Justice

Black and brown people are overrepresented in the criminal legal system, and their children are disproportionately present in the foster system, which runs parallel to it. These systems marginalize people with low income, especially those of color, and keep them in a cycle of poverty.

We work to reform and change the criminal legal and child welfare systems to ensure that they do not continue to operate in a manner that harms Black and Brown families. We advocate for policies that keep families safe and help people who are justice-involved secure stable jobs, secure safe homes, secure training and education, and thrive in their communities.

We center parents in advocating for policies and laws that strengthen families.

People with criminal records face barriers to housing, employment, and other basic needs.
