Hana Urban believes in the power of digital tools to enact systemic change. They have experience in social media management, journalism, and community organizing. Before joining the Shriver Center on Poverty Law as the Marketing Associate, Hana was a fact-checker at In These Times magazine. This nationally syndicated publication centers labor and political news. At Warehouse Workers for Justice, they unionized working-class people as an organizer.
Hana graduated from Northeastern Illinois University with a degree in English. They are currently pursuing their master’s degree. You can find them at poetry readings and as a volunteer at mutual aid projects in their free time.

Crime-free nuisance ordinances (CFNOs) are municipal laws and policies that single out properties where alleged nuisances occur. These activities can be noise disturbances or emergency service calls. CFNOs hold tenants responsible through fines and evictions, among other penalties. This puts domestic violence victims and people with disabilities at risk, who often seek emergency services and police assistance.
