Governor Pritzker Signs Medicaid Omnibus Bill into Law

Legislation Will Expand Access to Care and Prevent Lapses in Coverage

The Medicaid Omnibus Bill, SB 1321, was signed into law by Illinois Governor Pritzker today. The new law, which the Shriver Center supported, mandates a full review of the Medicaid redetermination process to identify changes that will allow more patients to be renewed automatically and ensure patients are maintaining the highest continuum of care possible.

Illinois has struggled for years to complete Medicaid applications in a timely fashion and prevent lapses in Medicaid coverage at renewal. The Shriver Center is hopeful that this bill will finally implement the reforms needed to streamline Medicaid renewal processes and better ensure that Illinois’s three million Medicaid recipients will get the health care they need.
