Alissa Rivera helps drive state and multistate advocacy agendas through digital communications and campaigns. She previously worked in digital media for large-market television stations and newspapers. Prior to that, Alissa reported on both features and news for the Chicago Tribune, the State Journal-Register, and other publications, and has focused on investigations related to criminal justice and poverty for The Chicago Reporter and CU-Citizen Access. She has a Bachelor’s degree in News-Editorial Journalism from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a Masters in Public Affairs Reporting from the University of Illinois Springfield, and a Masters in Digital Journalism and Design from the University of South Florida St. Petersburg. Alissa volunteers for and is involved with Chicago-based organizations connected to education, refugee issues, and child welfare.
