As partners, we can do great things for our nation.
The Shriver Center on Poverty Law has had a great year, thanks to partners like you. With your support, we won a string of victories for people with low income. Workers in Illinois now have the right to take five days of paid time off — no questions asked. Guaranteed income pilots in Cook County and Chicago are putting money into the hands of individuals and families who need it most. Together we made history, with Illinois becoming the first state in the nation to end cash bail, a system that disproportionately keeps Black and brown people behind bars.
Through our networks and trainings, we aim to spread these successes at the local, state, and national levels.
Sixty years ago, Sargent Shriver founded an organization based on a key insight: that lawyers, working in coalition across the country, could play an enormous role in ending poverty. Today with your partnership, we can continue his legacy by securing even more victories for people with low income and building a world free from racism and poverty.
