Illinois’ fiscal policies should ensure that all communities can thrive. But Illinois’ current flat tax rate, under which everyone pays the same rate regardless of income, is unfair, regressive, and inadequate to fund vital services. The Fair Tax Amendment not only lifts the burden off middle- and lower-income families who are disproportionately hurt by our current tax structure, but also creates a more fair and just system where everyone can get ahead.
