Call Your State
Representative Now to Support HB 1330:
Ensuring Success in School Act (ESSA)
The Ensuring Success in School Act (ESSA), H.B. 1330, is expected to come before the Illinois House of Representatives for a full floor vote this week. Even as we increase legislative sponsorships and organizational endorsements for ESSA, your support for the bill has never been more crucial.
All House members are likely to vote on H.B. 1330 on either Wednesday, March 28 or Thursday, March 29. We urge you to contact your representatives in support of H.B. 1330 in order to convey to them that the time is NOW to protect the educational rights of students who face barriers to attending school and completing their education because they are parents, expectant parents, or victims of domestic or sexual violence. Encourage your representatives to vote yes on the bill, as well as to add their name to the growing list of bill sponsors and remind them that the educational future of Illinois students depends on their support of H.B. 1330.
To contact your representatives, call the toll-free Capitol Switchboard at 1-888-801-4426, or go to www.ilga.gov for their district office information. The toll-free number allows you to connect directly with an operator at the Illinois Capitol Switchboard where you will be asked for the name of your state representative or your district number (found on your voter registration card). If you are unaware of the name of your representative or your district number, you can find this information easily by visiting www.elections.state.il.us/DistrictLocator/AddressSearch.aspx
Your continued efforts are greatly appreciated, and remain essential in promoting the educational rights of youth who are parents, expectant parents or victims of domestic or sexual violence. Thank you.
