Jennifer Smith


For the past two years, Jennifer Smith has been the Director for Home Energy Assistance Programs at CEDA.  Her responsibilities include managing a $100 million fuel fund budget and a staff of 130. She holds national memberships in the National Fuel Funds Network and Community Action Partnership. In 2008, Jennifer was recognized as an emerging manager with Certified Community Action Professional credentials.

Jennifer is an advocate for affordable home energy and has conducted and participated in a number of workshops, panels, and radio interviews on the topic both locally and nationally.

Recently, CEDA has partnered with the City of Chicago Department of Environment, The Field Museum, Cook County utility companies and other service providers to form the Energy Action Network. The Network supports a community-based approach to raise awareness and engage City of Chicago residents in available energy affordability, energy efficiency, and energy conservation programs and offerings.

Smith attended Thornton Fractional North High School in Dolton and has a B.S. from St. Francis University and an M.B.A. with a concentration in Public and Not for Profit Management from the University of St. Xavier.  She is married to Steve Smith and has a daughter and son.
