FAIR Wage Bill (Future Adjustments for Illinois Residents)

The Shriver Center is focused on making work pay for low-income individuals. We are helping advocates and states interpret federal laws in ways that are fair and helpful to people seeking self-sufficiency. We understand that only when wages are fair and work supports are all in place can work become a path out of poverty. That is why the Shriver Center is part of the coalition of advocates working to raise the minimum wage in Illinois.

The FAIR Wage Bill would:
·    Increase the minimum wage to $7.50 per hour effective January 1, 2007.
·    “Index” the minimum wage annually to protect workers from rising prices.
